Republicans are more enthusiastic about voting than Democrats, Romney ties Obama

Republicans are more enthusiastic about voting for the next president than the Democrats are.

This could give the Republican candidate the boost he will need, if the right guy wins the nomination.

As it stands today, according to the latest Gallup poll, that guy is Mitt Romney

When asked who they would vote for today, if Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, or Paul were the Republican Party’s candidate…

National registered voters chose Mitt Romney.

Each Republican candidate compared to Obama

  • Obama 48 % Romney 48%
  • Obama 49% Paul 46%
  • Obama 51% Santorum 43%
  • Obama 53% Gingrich 41%

Party Games and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey, Left or Right

Vote and pin the tail on a donkey

Pin the Tail on the Donkey is a party game we all played as children, and I recently had an opportunity to watch a game…

A picture of a donkey with a missing tail was tacked to a wall within easy reach of the children.
One at a time, the children are blindfolded and handed a paper “tail” with a push-pin or thumb tack poked through it. Blindfolded they are spun around until disoriented. Then, they grope around and try to pin the tail on the donkey. The other children shout directions from the sideline…

The player who pins the tail closest to the target, the donkey’s rear, wins. The game, a group activity, is generally not competitive; “winning” is only of marginal importance…

As I watched the game, I was reminded of the way most of us vote these days…

We aren’t wearing a blindfold, but we might as well be. We get a disorienting spin from the news media, then we stumble in confusion from one televised debate to next, getting lost among the issues. Directions are shouted from both the left and the right…

To be sure, there are a lot of donkeys to choose from, we just can’t be sure where any of them truly stand. And it’s hard to tell the front from the back or the left from the right…

Now, it’s not from lack of information or a desire to understand. In fact we may have way too much information and it’s not all true or helpful.

Newt Gingrich falsely claimed the House ethics panel that voted to reprimand him in 1997 was “a very partisan political committee.” He was also off base when he said the inquiry was “a Pelosi-driven effort.” In fact, the House Committee on Ethics is the only House panel evenly divided by

Trying to absorb and understand all of this conflicting propaganda is often reason enough to just give up and pin the tail on the nearest ass…

That’s probably not the best way to do it.

We need to find out as much as we can about our candidates and make sure we are pinning the responsibility of running our country on the right tail..

After all, this is more than marginally important, the future of our country rests on our choice. We have to vote and we have to make sure we know who and what we are voting for.

All that said, this post is the first in a series…

In my effort to decide who to will vote for, I will find out what I can about our Presidential candidates and share the results with you in the next few posts.

I hope you will leave comments and share what you know about the candidates. But keep it clean.
